Sometimes, the needs of our community hide in plain sight, but that doesn’t mean they should stay hidden. Sumner County Schools have identified over 300 students who are experiencing homelessness right here in our own backyard. Many of these students experience malnutrition and don’t have much, if anything, to eat while they’re away from school. Their parents often struggle to provide food and may go hungry themselves so their children can eat. Teachers often spend their own money to help provide food for students in need.
Children and teens with hungry bellies find it difficult to concentrate in school, or may not attend school at all. They may be embarrassed to tell someone or ask for help. The children and teens of Sumner County should not carry this burden alone. We can help.

The goal of End Hunger in Sumner is to support the Sumner County school system alongside churches, non-profits, and governmental entities, aiming to eliminate food insecurities faced by students and provide biblical life coaching assistance to their families.
Long Hollow Church and End Hunger in Sumner will install and maintain meal pantries in select Sumner County Schools to provide easy-to-prep daily meals to students identified by the school during the school year for evenings, weekends, and school holidays.

Food for Families is our annual Thanksgiving opportunity for Long Hollow to be a force for good in our community. As an extension of End Hunger in Sumner, food-filled bags will be delivered to our local schools and homes of Sumner County students who deal with food insecurity. We will also provide bags to our local missions partners to provide food through their programs for families in need. Last year, we were able to serve 1,600+ families in Sumner County and the surrounding area. We’d love to help even more people this year!
There are several ways you can participate in Food for Families!
Beginning October 12, pick up a bag at any of the main entrances on campus and shop for needed items (lists will be attached). Look for the Food for Families bins on campus or the trailer to drop off the filled bags at Gallatin and Hendersonville on Sunday, November 2, 9, and 16.
If you attend online or are unable to shop for a bag, we would still love for you to participate! Gifts can be given in $30 increments (the estimated cost of a complete bag).
Purchase a BagWe need volunteers to deliver bags to our local schools and missions partners at 10AM on Friday, November 21, and homes of Sumner County students at 10AM on Saturday, November 22. Sign up to help us deliver bags on your preferred day.
